Probably the first time I have ever scooped The New York Times, I mean I downloaded Dragon Dictate on Wednesday AM, and immediately sent off a flurry of emails extolling its virtues... I mean WOW, Gotta get this app, & FREE! Usually I let The Times provide me with a review prior to purchase. Ah, But David did bring up the fear-mongers concerns over privacy... and properly put them in their place, yeah a contacts check box option should allow paranoids to sleep at night.
Just wanted to let you know that I REALLY appreciate what you have brought to my iPhone. It is a holy grail app, one that I have been hoping for since I gave up my IBM Selectric typewriter... yeah, long ago.
The iPhone has revolutionized cellphones, and portable computing... but now your Dragon Dictate has raised the stakes again... this time bringing cloud computing to my handheld for amplifying the most human activity... TALKING, but converting it from the shackles of time that voice demands to WRITING, which can be sliced, diced, reorganized, and reconfigured... OH, the potential!
Beyond texting to Poems, Dialogues, plays... I am excited, Technology emancipating humans from another drudge... writing/typing.
Congratulations on developing the Newest Killer APP. (from a long time Macintosh user... & writer, educator, painter)
I'm confused... are you actually working on a version for the Touch, or only evaluating as to whether or not to do it?
Early this morning (12/10 8:30am) someone ("DragonMobileApps") from Dragon posted in the comments section the following:
"We are currently evaluating bringing Dragon Dictation to iPod Touch.."
But in this new post this afternoon from Michael, he writes:
"We are working on Dragon Dictation for iPod Touch"
This morning it sounded like you were still deciding as to whether or not to do it, but this afternoon it sounds like you have decided to pursue it and are working on it. Do I have this right?
I would like to echo what others have said... there are many Touch users who would love to have an iPhone but AT&T's coverage is so poor (check out the maps!), they just can't because of where they live. They get a Touch because it is the next best thing and because 99% of all apps that run on the iPhone run on the Touch. In fact, yours is the only one I know that is not compatible with BOTH, but there may be a few others.
Please bring this wonderful app to the Touch! Many of the users who could make good use of your products already have the microphone they need for its usage.
Thanks for this app, and please bring it to us Touch users soon!
This is a good article but it does point out something, and I'm wondering if it is true.
The writer says that the data between the iphone and the Dragon servers can be transferred across a wifi connection (as opposed to cellular connection only). Is this true?
If that is the case, it should be extremely easy to allow a Touch to use this app, which uses wifi only, obviously. I know a dozen Touch users who could really use an app like this!
