Dragon Dictation & Dragon Search on iPod Touch

Exciting news for iPod Touch users…Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are now available for 2nd or 3rd generation iPod Touch.

To provide you with the best possible user experience, we would like you to know a couple of requirements specific to iPod Touch. Both applications need to process your voice, which means your iPod Touch needs to be connected to an external microphone. Based on the audio processing quality of different microphones, the recognition accuracy may vary. You will also need Internet connectivity (WiFi) while using the application on iPod Touch to process the audio data.

We have introduced a new configuration parameter for Dragon Dictation; you can now choose the end-of-speech detection to be automatic. This will let the application auto-detect when you finish speaking without tapping the “Done” button.

Thank you for your patience & continued excitement while we were working on support for iPod Touch. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

Anyone have a recommendation for a good plug in mic for 3rd generation ipod touch (32 gb) to work with Dragon Dictation/Search? Where to purchase?

I am using the default earphones/mic that came with my 3rd gen. ipod touch. It works great.

Why is this only available on the U.S. store? You know there are literally billions of other people on this planet, right?

@Anonymous: I ordered this microphone from Amazon for my iPod touch 2G. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014AVAPO/ref=oss_T15_product. Reasonably priced and works great (for Voice Memos anyway; haven't tried it with this app yet).

To the folks at Nuance... THANK YOU for getting this app to market so quickly after the iPhone app! AWESOME!!!

Thanks so much for making this available to ipod touch users! I have problems using my hands and arms so this will be a HUGE help to me in everyday life. Is there a command list somewhere to help with formatting? The "period", "comma", were no- brainers but I know there has to be more. Maybe I missed a link for this in the app description? Any pointers? Thank you again!

During development & testing of the app we used the Switcheasy ThumbTacks microphone (Amazon link below) in addition to the Apple iPhone wired headset. Let us know what your experience is like with different headsets/mics.

This is the most amazing app. My husband and I both use it on our iPhone and love it. It works perfectly, except for names. I also love how you can add your punctuation.

On my 2g iTouch, the dictation only lasts for 30 seconds and then switches off. You mentioned being able to blog with it. 30 seconds isn't enough for what I need. I would gladly pay for an app with unlimited recording time.

Also, my brother has an iphone, and he has lost work several times when the phone rings. Is there a fix for that?

Dragon Dictation (FREE) version has limit of 30 seconds audio recording in a single session. You can continue to dictate long emails or paragraphs in multiple sessions without ever to have to close the applications. This time limit ensures accuracy & prompt responsiveness from the Dragon server system. In future versions we will reconsider this time limit.

I'm excited to use my Dragon dictation application for my new 3rd G iPod Touch. I am using dragon for medical dictation and was wondering if you could recommend a mac application to upload the comments so that I can put it in an electronic charting application. One person commented on using Evernote (pc - I have a mac) - can I copy and paste it into a Word document?

So this is NOT a replacement for a separate digital voice recorder? Just be able to input text in apps on Touch?

that's a good question, Anonymous, many of my students asked the same question...
