Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search Now Available in Canadian App Store

Many of you have asked about the ability to download Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search outside of the U.S. I’m pleased to announce that we are making the U.S. versions of the Dragon Applications available on the Canadian App Store. These versions support U.S. English and will use U.S. English spellings (“center” vs. “centre”, “color” vs. “colour”, etc.).

Canadian users, you will want to verify that your iPhone or iPod Touch’s Region Format is set to Canada (see Dragon Search FAQ -> General) to search Canada specific content.

We’re very excited to hear your feedback from up North in Canada – so download it today and let us know what you think! For those of you with an iPod Touch, see our recent blog posting here to learn more about how to get the most out of your iPod Touch experience.

It’s also important to note that we are continuously working on new dialects and languages, including new dialects for English, French and other languages. Once we’re ready to roll them out – you’ll be the first to know!

Dragon Dictation & Dragon Search on iPod Touch

Exciting news for iPod Touch users…Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search are now available for 2nd or 3rd generation iPod Touch.

To provide you with the best possible user experience, we would like you to know a couple of requirements specific to iPod Touch. Both applications need to process your voice, which means your iPod Touch needs to be connected to an external microphone. Based on the audio processing quality of different microphones, the recognition accuracy may vary. You will also need Internet connectivity (WiFi) while using the application on iPod Touch to process the audio data.

We have introduced a new configuration parameter for Dragon Dictation; you can now choose the end-of-speech detection to be automatic. This will let the application auto-detect when you finish speaking without tapping the “Done” button.

Thank you for your patience & continued excitement while we were working on support for iPod Touch. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

Dragon Apps are Headed to Vegas, Baby!

It’s a New Year and what better way to kick it off than with the world’s most amazing consumer electronics event, CES! The Dragon team is all packed and ready to head out West, where we’ll be showing off Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search at the Pepcom and ShowStoppers events Wednesday and Thursday evening. We’ll be alongside Dragon NaturallySpeaking, where press and analysts will be able to see how Dragon’s amazing capabilities are leveraged on the PC as well as the iPhone. We’ll also be showing off a few other goodies in our Mobile speech portfolio, so if you’re attending the event – please stop by to check it out.

I’m looking forward to how Dragon can make navigating the madness of Vegas and CES a lot easier. For instance, you’ll likely have your hands full with all those fun CES chotchkies – so texting colleagues or typing in walking directions to the Bellagio might be tough….but you can simply use your voice to easily enter search queries or shoot off a quick text message. You can even easily update your Twitter or Facebook status: “Just scored tickets for Barry Manilow!” (you know you secretly love Barry Manilow…), and quickly look up the lyrics to Copa Cabana so you can sing along.

In all seriousness – there is a lot that Dragon can do to help make your trip easier and productive. Planning on blogging from the show? Why not just use Dragon Dictation? You can take notes as you walk from meeting to meetings, and quickly get blog posts and updates pulled together as the news happens. If you do plan to use Dragon at the show – let us know! We’d love to hear about how it’s made your 2010 CES experience even more amazing.

We’ll be Tweeting from the show all week – follow us @DragonTweets and @NuanceMobile to keep up with us!

For those of you attending, safe travels to Sin City!
